Above the Fold
Refers to content that can be seen before any scrolling on a Web page or within an email message.
Many marketers concentrate too much on what's "above the fold" and don't work to give the reader a reason to scroll. If people are truly interested, they will scroll down. You should pay attention to this however, and give readers indicators to "read/look further."
