As markets change, terminology changes, too. The MidMarketer world is filled with expressions and acronyms packed with opportunity…and sometimes confusion. When you need to understand “what they’re talking about,” check out the MidMarketer glossary. You’ll not only get the definition, but a MidMarketer editorial aiming you in the right direction, or at least giving you our opinion on the subject.
Blacklist
A list of email senders who sending practices would indicate that they are sending spam. Blacklists are usually complied by Domain Name and/or IP (Internet Protocol) Address. The result of being on a Blacklist is that your messages will be blocked at any company or ISP referencing that specific Blacklist. Also known as a Block List or Black Hole List
Some Blacklists carry more "weight" than others. Being on any is generally a bad thing and taking steps to be removed from them is recommended. If find yourself on a number of Blacklists, or repeatedly being place on them, you may need to re-examine your email practices. Check with your Email Service Provider to ensure you're not on any blacklists.
