As markets change, terminology changes, too. The MidMarketer world is filled with expressions and acronyms packed with opportunity…and sometimes confusion. When you need to understand “what they’re talking about,” check out the MidMarketer glossary. You’ll not only get the definition, but a MidMarketer editorial aiming you in the right direction, or at least giving you our opinion on the subject.
Bounce
An email message that has failed to be delivered for some reason. A message can bounce for many reasons, including a "hard bounce" like the email address does not exist any more, or a "soft bounce" reason such as the mail box is temporary full.
While bounces do occur and are part of email marketing, an unusually high number of bounces can point to problems with your delivery mechanisms, or the quality of your email list. Review your bounce rates regularly to obtain insight into issues with delivery and/or list quality.
