You’ll not only get the definition, but a MidMarketer editorial aiming you in the right direction, or at least giving you our opinion on the subject.
CAN-SPAM
CAN-SPAM is an acronym for Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography And Marketing. It is a U.S. statute that became law in 2004 and defines how legitimate marketers must create their email messages as to not be considered spam. CAN-SPAM has requirements for sending commercial email, penalties for spammers and rights for consumers to ask emailers to stop spamming them.
The CAN-SPAM act makes it illegal to send SPAM - plain and simple. There are several requirements necessary to ensure that your email messages are CAN-SPAM compliant. They aren't hard to meet and there is no excuse for your email messages not to be compliant. And if you're not complying with the CAN-SPAM act, you're breaking the law - a Federal Law. Go to the FTC web site and review the requirements. Ask your Email Service Provider how they can help you comply with Can-Spam.
