As markets change, terminology changes, too. The MidMarketer world is filled with expressions and acronyms packed with opportunity…and sometimes confusion. When you need to understand “what they’re talking about,” check out the MidMarketer glossary. You’ll not only get the definition, but a MidMarketer editorial aiming you in the right direction, or at least giving you our opinion on the subject.
Cascading Style Sheets or CSS
Code that specifies how a Web page is presented on-screen or when printed. Cascading style sheets allow control over fonts, images, page layout and spacing. Use of cascading style sheets allows for page designs to be attached independent content.
Before the development of CSS, almost all of the visual requirements of HTML documents were contained within the HTML markup; all font colors, background styles, alignments, borders and sizes had to be clearly described, often repeatedly, within the HTML. CSS allows developers to move much of that information to a separate style sheet resulting in much simpler HTML markup, as well as easily changing design parameters across many pages or sites.
