Log File Analysis
The examination of records stored in the log file of a Web site. The log file provides such information as which files were requested, when and who requested the files and where they were referred from. Raw log file data can be helpful if you're looking for very specific information, but can be difficult to read. Log file analysis software can help by converting log file data into user-friendly charts and graphs.
Most web analytics tools can use log files to calculate visitors, page views, and other general statistics.
