As markets change, terminology changes, too. The MidMarketer world is filled with expressions and acronyms packed with opportunity…and sometimes confusion. When you need to understand “what they’re talking about,” check out the MidMarketer glossary. You’ll not only get the definition, but a MidMarketer editorial aiming you in the right direction, or at least giving you our opinion on the subject.
Seed email address
Seed email addresses are test email addresses that are created (often secretly) and added to lists in order to test things like what messages are being sent and delivery rates.
It's always a good idea to set up a number of email seed accounts to just check on your email campaigns. Email accounts with places like AOL, Yahoo and hotmail are free, so they don't cost you anything except the time to set them up. You can then be sure that mail is being delivered and also see how it looks within different email clients. Also set some of the test accounts up to receive text-only messages (vs HTML) so you can see how your text messages are appearing to users that can't, or don't want to, get HTML messages.
