How much work is involved in organic search engine optimization, and what priority should it take?
The scope for undertaking a search engine optimization effort for your site can become very large. Just remember: Rome wasn’t built in a day. It also needs to be considered an ongoing effort. We suggest that you break the effort into smaller pieces.
Priority #1: Establish your key technical components, including your sitemap, robots.txt, and creating the ability to change meta titles and descriptions.
Priority #2: Focus on generating and upgrading content inside and outside the site, including ancillary elements such as images, video, blogs, etc.
Priority #3: Designate resources to have responsibility for ongoing elements of your search optimization strategy.
True, considerable effort over time must be focused on this. But it can and will help you reap great rewards.
Don’t go it alone.
Find a search partner that understands the space, and can help get you there. In selecting a long-term search resource, avoid the “10 top-ten rankings”or “overnight rankings” pitch. No reputable firm will offer this- it’s wishful thinking.
Remember: search results come from solid processes, great content, and hard work. Find a partner who will act as your search consultant, not someone who goes away and magically gets you search rankings overnight.
